Left to right: Claire Steels, Nicky Juniper and Rebecca Johnson.

A very hilly technical course over 76km (47 miles) with appalling roads with lots of rough areas and potholes and a severe climb to the finish.

Nicky Juniper attacked 1st time up the hill taking Claire Steels with her.  Claire showed superb tactical judgement by realising that Nicky was just a bit too strong so she waited for Rebecca Johnson who was getting across.  They were joined by Alana Prior of Liv Cycles.  This trio were to stay away to the finish where Claire took 2nd with Rebecca 3rd close behind.

However, that is not the whole story.  The bunch being reduced to 14 riders by the extreme nature of the course contained the remainder of the Fusion RT team.   They, under the stewardship of Molly Patch, controlled this group making sure there was no concerted effort to close the gap.

This race was a total team effort where all the team contributed to the race and this will, as the season goes on, make the difference between Fusion RT and the rest.

A very well done to everybody and many thanks to Iuri from Velo Performance for all his hard work at the team training camp and working so well on the team ethic.
